My Story

My name is Kory Medici and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 22 months old. I am now 23 years old and very passionate about finding a cure for diabetes to help mine and the lives of others struggling with this disease. It certainly is manageable but I personally struggled for a long time and has led to a few more obstacles thrown in my way. I was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and diabetic retinopathy which basically means I need a new kidney and I get injections in my eyes every 3 weeks for my deteriorating eye sight. Hopefully I can get a transplant and stay healthy, but in the meantime I’ve started dialysis treatment and therapy to help keep me as healthy as can be until a transplant. I am very passionate about fashion and I wanted to create a special brand for diabetics to rep and own to show love and support for themselves and also away for others to show support to loved ones struggling. Diabetes is filled with highs and lows so the logo I created on the hoodie has a heart rate monitor going up and down. What I’ve learned is that I always tried to act like I never had diabetes and that was a huge mistake. I want diabetics to know that it may run through me or someone else but it doesn’t control you. I’ve learned to own it. Always Up.
